TikTok engagement rate calculator

On TikTok, engagement is best measured against views. Enter a video’s numbers, or pull your follower count from a public account and fill in the rest.

Your TikTok engagement

By views: under 3% is low, 3 to 6% normal, 6 to 10% good and over 10% very high. Without views, the rate uses followers and Instagram-style bands.

Views or followers?

Because For You shows videos to people who don’t follow you, a video’s views can be many times your follower count, or a fraction of it. Engagement by views tells you how well the video itself landed; engagement by followers tells you how active your audience is. Use views when you have them.

The formula

(likes + comments + shares) ÷ views × 100, or ÷ followers if you leave views blank. Shares are optional but worth adding: they’re one of the strongest signals TikTok uses.

What good looks like

Small accounts often see higher rates than large ones. A rate of 6% or more by views is a sign the video held attention. Compare your own videos with each other, not with celebrity accounts.

Using the result

If a video’s rate is strong but views are low, try posting at a better time (see best time to post in NZ) or reworking the first two seconds. Read how For You works for the rest.
