Choosing posts from your grid

How many likes look right

Likes are judged against followers. An account with 900 followers and 4,000 likes on one photo reads as strange; the same post with 120 to 300 likes doesn’t. A useful band for small and mid-sized accounts is roughly 2 to 6 per cent of followers per post, and our likes-to-followers ratio tool does the maths for you. For a profile that’s both quiet and new, pair a modest like package with followers.

Good moments to use likes

  • A launch post for a new menu, product drop or opening day, so the first visitors see a post that looks noticed.
  • Your pinned posts. They sit at the top of the profile for months, so they’re worth tidying up.

Limits worth knowing

Likes don’t buy comments, saves or reach on Explore, and Instagram can strip likes it decides are inauthentic. The post needs to stay public until delivery is finished. Charges are in US$ and converted to NZD by your bank; POLi, Afterpay and Laybuy aren’t offered.

Can likes be split across posts?
No. One package is one post; tap several posts and each becomes its own package.
Can I hide the like count?
Yes, Instagram lets you hide counts on your posts. The likes are still delivered; viewers just won’t see the number.
